Masala puri

Masala puri

Masala puri is stuffed puff bread filled with spices. These masala puri can be served with any Indian curry or yogurt or pickle, in breakfast, in lunch or any main course or snack. In this recipe I am using wheat flour, you can use flour of your choice. 

INGREDIENTS:

For dough:

  • Wheat flour 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Carom seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Oil 1 tsp

For filling:

  • Urad dal soaked 1/3 cup
  • Chilli flakes 1/3 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Dry Coriander crushed 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 pinch
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Oil for frying 

METHOD:

  1. In a mixing bowl add whole wheat flour, salt, 1 tsp oil and mix well. Add some water and make medium soft dough. Cover it and Keep aside for 10 mins.
  2. grind the soaked urad dal in grinder and grind it coarsely without adding water, add salt, Chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, mix well and keep it aside for 5 mins.
  3. Take a small ball size portion of dough and roll a ball. Make a hole in center of ball and fill 1/4 tsp of filling in it and cover it gain with dough and roll to ball again. Press the ball to make it flat.
  4. Now use oil to flat the balls and roll it in 1/2-inch-thick discs with the help of rolling pin.
  5. Prepare all discs.
  6. In a deep-frying pan, heat oil for deep frying. When oil is hot carefully slide prepared puri disc one by one in oil. Press little bit in center to let puri puff and flip over with slotted spoon and let it cook from both sides.
  7. Take puris out on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  8. Masala puris are ready to serve.

Strawberry smoothie cool and refreshing drink for everyone at home, it’s healthy drink to enjoy milk and fruit benefits in every season. I always prefer fresh smoothie at home rather than market smoothie. At home we know the age and quality of ingredients we are using but not sure about market food.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Full cream Milk 1 cup
  • Fresh or Frozen strawberries 1/3 cup
  • Chopped Nuts 1 tbsp (optional)
  • Sugar 1 tbsp (optional)

Method:

  1. Wash and chop strawberries, if using frozen no need to wash and chopped but if fresh chop them and keep it in freezer for 2 hours before use.
  2. If you don’t want to use frozen strawberries or don’t have time to freeze, you can use fresh strawberries and add few ice cubes with strawberries while blending.
  3. In a blender add milk, frozen strawberries, sugar, half of nuts and blend it for 2 mins.
  4. In serving glass pour strawberry shake and mix nuts if you want. Serve immediate chilled smoothie.

Bread rolls

Bread rolls

Bread roll is stuffed bread cutlets crispy crunchy outside but soft fillers inside. In winters and rainy days hot bread rolls as breakfast or snacks are mouth watering with a cup of hot tea. Bread rolls are served with green / mint chutney or turmind sauce.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Bread slices 4
  • Boiled medium size potato 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 1/3 tsp or as per taste
  • Fine chopped green chilly 1
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Chopped green coriander 1 tbsp(optional)
  • Chaat masala 1 tsp
  • Chopped onion 1 tbsp(optional)
  • Oil for frying

METHOD:

  1. In a mixing bowl add boil potato and mash it. Mix salt, chili powder, chaat masala, green chilly, chopped coriander leaves, chopped onion and mix them all together to make filling.
  2. Take bread slices and cut the corners if you want, spray some water or dip lightly in water bowl and squeeze between your palm.
  3. Place some filling in center of the bread, close the corners of the bread and it will form a rectangle shape. when filling is close inside the bread , you can give round or oval shape to your roll with your fingers. Keep all rolls aside.
  4. In a deep-frying pan heat some oil for frying. When oil is hot, deep fry your rolls until it’s golden brown and crispy. Make sure oil is not too hot otherwise, rolls will not be cooked well from inside.
  5. Take out on absorbing paper and serve hot with chutney.

 

TIP: In filling if you want you can add 1 tbsp of grated cottage cheese or mozzarella cheese and mix to give it cheese flavor.
